Background Information
After the 2009 Johannesburg International Conference on Peace in Africa-2009 JICPA,19-21 May 2009 in the City of Johannesburg, in Gauteng province, and the 2010 Pietermaritzburg International Conference on Peace in Africa, 19th -21st September 2010 ,at AFRICAN ENTERPRISE, in Pietermaritzburg ,in Kwa-Zulu Natal province, in South Africa; Christians for Peace in Africa will organize the 2011 Johannesburg International Conference on Peace in Africa from the 24th to the 26th October in Johannesburg during the Johannesburg International Week of Peace from the 24 to the 30 October 2011.
As during the two first International Conferences, delegates from different African countries are ready to come to participate to this historic event which coincides with the Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Christians for Peace in Africa.
Peace being very paramount to Africa as a whole, the expected 100 participants, African Peacemakers, will spend 3 days analyzing the implementations and the outcomes of the two previous gatherings, and most of all how to capitalize what have been done during the 10 Years of the existence of Christians for Peace in Africa: 10 Years of Impacting Africa with the Culture of Peace.
The lifetime of 10 Years means a lot for us the 10.000 Members and Partners of Christians for Peace in Africa. This means 10 Years of: Determination, Perseverance, Focus and Commitment to our Vision and Mission.
The 2011 Johannesburg International Conference on Peace is timely and relevant. Christians for Peace in Africa will bring together as guest speakers different outstanding national and international mediators, African Peacemakers who are the living legacy in the fields of Conflict Management, Peace building, Mediation and Reconciliation in Africa.
The first International Conference having been in Memory of the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr and the Chief Albert Luthuli, both Nobel Peace Prize and also our role models; the second Conference was organized under the patronage of Dr Michael Cassidy, an outstanding African asset in Reconciliation, Mediation and Peace building , and Patron of Christians for Peace in Africa. This present gathering is organized in memory of the more than 6 millions of Congolese victims of the long conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Targeted beneficiaries
The 2011 Johannesburg International Conference on Peace in Africa-2011 JICPA targets especially the Leadership of Christians for Peace in Africa: Regional Advisors, Regional Directors, and National Directors coming from Southern African, Central African, Western African, Eastern African and even Northern African countries, to evaluate the successes and challenges of the 10 years since the inception of our organization in 2001 and more to focus on the years to come.
Expectations and Outcomes
The 2011 Johannesburg International Conference on Peace in Africa-2011 JICPA is designed as never before to equip the African Peacemakers with new tools, strategies and tactical approaches to promote the public education of the Culture of Peace among their constituencies, from the grassroots to the decision-makers in their different countries of origin, in benefiting from the different South African historic experiences ,in the peaceful and secure environment of the City of Johannesburg-a world class African city.
By enhancing the public education of the Culture of Peace in Africa, Africa will recover a lasting Peace, a Social and Economic Development. And as never before, the participants-African Peacemakers, will continue to Impact Africa and the world.
